Deep Carbon Observatory

Från G+, därför på ett annat språk.

Reading Deep Carbon Observatory, an OSR adventure/setting. Given the massive talents of Scrap Princess and Patrick Stuart, you’ll be forgiven if your expectations are set sky high. Well, you can safely dial them up even further.

I’m currently half-way through, and DAMN this is some powerful stuff. It reminds me a lot of Qelong, but where Qelong has the adventurers wading through the spoils of an incomprehensible war, the PCs of Carbon Observatory wade through a flood.

Like many contemporary adventures it’s shock full of desperation and sadness and malice. What makes it stand out, however, is the human scope. There is no uncomprehensible war like Quelong or ageless tentacled evils like Carcosa forcing the hands of the actors, rather its just people drowning or starving or destroying what little is left for petty personal gain. This makes Carbon Observatory a million times bleaker.

And yes, there are adventures awaiting you there. Even a dungeon. But you’ll probably want to donate money to catastrophe relief when you’re done.

    1. I verkligheten tror jag det är ett forskningsprogram för organisk kemi på planetär nivå.

I spelet är det en sorts forskningsbas/portal till “the underdark” (alltså den mystiska underjorden i D&D)/dungeon.
